Music Magazine Brief.

As part of our course work, we have been asked to create an original music magazine. This includes a front cover, a contents page and a double page spread. Before I create my magazine, I must first think about what Genre of music I would like my magazine to associate with. To do this I will research a number of music magazines and find out what sort music people are mostly in to nowadays, that way I know what is popular and what will appeal to an audience. In my magazine the thing I must include are 4 original images taken by me, these cannot include pictures from the Internet or what other people have taken. These photos can be placed anywhere in my magazine and I can even expand the number I use. I will try to experiment as much as I can with my photos so even if I don't use them in my final product I have given my self a wider range of choice.
After researching a number of magazines I have found that the most popular type of genre in music is the independent and individual style. There are more magazines representing this style than any other and so this shows the originality of this genre. Also from speaking to a number of people, I have found that their favoured type of music is also the individual scene. This make it easier for me to relate to an audience and because of this I have choose to use this genre in my magazine. However I wanted to make it a bit more different and put different sort of genres together. I like the idea of having sort of a rock and roll, individual idea but I think it may work well will the sort of retro and vintage look. This could just mean the type of music would be the rock and roll sound but the look would be retro and vintage. I think this adds a nice touch as it is quite unique but at the same time original as both them two styles are in at the moment. I will aim to achieve this look by having the photos reflect both genres, with having them dressed quite 'indi' but having the photos look old. I think this may look effective and therefore I will choose to do this.
