Choosing a name for my magazine.

As my magazine is a mixture of different genres I would like a name that reflects this. I want something that is quite unique and is different from all the other magazines I have looked at. I would also like a strap line to feature with it so that it makes more sense of why I have chosen to call it that. Some of the first ideas I have come up with are:

I have short listed two names I really liked the idea of having as a title for my magazine. These are : L&L and Visual. I liked the idea of having the look and sound of the artists based upon the name and so these two were the ones that fitted that category. L&L would be good to use as it has been shortened and is now qquite effective as 2 letters and a symbol. It stands for Look and Listen as a way of telling the audience that all artists want to be first seen then heard. If I had to give it a strap line I would have 'Look and Listen' as that's what it stands for and people would understand it more. I think it would be good as a logo too just like NME is. It would be a well known institution just because it has a logo and doesn't require the rest of the magazine to be noticed. It sort of gives the same ideas as the name Visual but it is more specific about what message I am trying to give.
Visual is a very unique name for a music magazine I think. You wouldn't really only associate sight with music , you would think sound as its something you hear. But I think having a name like this brings out the other side to it. Before an artist is heard they are often seen to justify what sort of sound they are going to give. I think the name visual is quite snappy and effective as it makes the sight side of it more clearer to the audience. I would have a strap line to make sense of what I mean and so I would have ' Wanting to be seen and heard' as a choice. I think it is easier to make sense of why this name works well for a music magazine. I really like the idea of this. It could also just like the name L&L be a logo for people to recognise it more.

Based on my thoughts about both names I have decided that my magazine will be called:

Visual 'Wanting to be seen & heard'

I decided to choose this name as my final choice as it is more creative and effective then just 2 letters. You would expect this to be a name of a music magazine and so I like the fact its different. Also the strap line summarises the title explaining what it means and why it works.
