I asked 6 people which contents page and double page spread was the best out of all the drafts I have done. 50% of them said that having a white background looks better with the picture I have chosen to use and it looks more professional. 1 person said they like the brick wall backgound but maybe if I used a different picture it would look a bit better or even using more than 1 picture would make a difference. 2 people said that that they like the red background as it shows more of the colours used from the front cover. However the picture was the problem once again.
Taking into account everything they have said about my contents page, it seems the problem is the picture I have chosen to use. However I like this picture a lot and I think it works well with a white background but I will try adding another picture to see if it works better. I also prefer the white background. My only concern is it looking too different to my front cover and double page spread. I want it to be consistent.
The double page spread had all 6 people liking the copy with the blue text. They said as there is more of the darker blue on the front cover and the contents page, they would use it here aswell as it shows consistency. However 1 person suggested I should maybe experiment a bit mor with were I put the the main heading.
The blue text does work better as more of that colour has been used so it would make sense. However it looks a bit dark against a dark background which adds concern. I also think that the pink may be a bit strong but this colour is one that remains throughout.
My front cover recieved good feedback as they said that it looked professional and they could tell what genre it was meant for. It attracted a female audience. I intially wanted to attract both genders but as I went through the stage of creating my front cover I decided to change this idea. The music magazine NME is targeted at 70% of males so as thereisnt a magazine of this genre specifically Also my images were of a female model and this would be more likely to attract a female. So overall my audience has been targeted.
